Stop Calling Me Steven is an ever-expanding collection of songs by artist and musician Steve Wiley. Native to Louisville, KY, Steve has been writing, recording, and producing Stop Calling Me Steven albums since 2008. SCMS draws influence from a wide range of rock and pop greats, such as the Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys, Depeche Mode, Ween, and the Deftones.
The range and mood of SCMS varies substantially from song to song. Some songs offer insightful lyrics with almost ambient backdrops. Some offer tongue-in-cheek one-liners and extensive word play over heavy synth, while others are aggressive; filled with layers of distorted guitars, reverb-drenched vocals, and heavy drums. Stop Calling Me Steven is a carousel of genres and styles.
Steve has written and recorded over 100 songs spanning multiple projects over the last 16 years. The Stop Calling Me Steven catalog is comprised of three albums. These include SCMS (2008), Upper Echelons of the Downtown (2011), and Planets and Animals (2016). A fourth album, A Sad Sight for Sore Eyes, is slated for release on May 31st, 2019.
